Lyon’s Karl Toko Ekambi agrees personal terms with Rennes and Saudi club Al-Shabab

Out-of-favour Lyon striker Karl Toko Ekambi has agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 side Rennes and Saudi outfit Al-Shabab, according to RMC Sport. Earlier this Saturday, Foot Mercato stated that Al-Shabab had made an offer to Lyon for the versatile forward. The Cameroon international has played for Lyon since 2020, having accrued 32 goals and 15 assists across 92 Ligue 1 games for Les Gones. His time at the club may soon be over, however. Toko Ekambi wants to leave, and Lyon want to sell. He was roundly booed by his own fans last Saturday when coming off the pitch, and let it all out by kicking a trashcan on his way to the dressing room.

According to RMC Sport, Toko Ekambi agreed personal terms with Stade Rennais and Al-Shabab with both clubs now in talks regarding the signing fee and the structure of the deal. Lyon have reportedly slapped a €7m price tag including bonuses on their forward. Stade Rennais would favour a six-month loan with no additional clause whereas Al-Shabab are pushing for a loan deal estimated at €2m, with a €2m option to buy. The outlet adds that Toko Ekambi has rejected the prospect of playing with a relegation-battling Premier League side such as Southampton and Everton.
