On November 5, the first complete machine test run of the domestic maximum thrust liquid rocket engine independently developed by the Sixth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation was successful. The "heart" of this type of engine, the large size cryogenic bearing used for the fuel turbine pump, was developed and matched by ZYS.
The successful test run of this type of engine marks a major breakthrough in key technologies of heavy carrier rocket engines in China, and is of great milestone significance. Aerospace liquid power technology supports the construction of a powerful aerospace country to a new level. It is reported that the thrust value of this type of engine is up to 500 tons, which is four times that of the 120 ton liquid oxygen kerosene engine currently in service. In the future, it will be used in China's independently developed heavy carrier rocket, which can provide strong power support for manned lunar landing, deep space exploration and other major projects.
Due to the large thrust of this type of engine, the turbopump bearing needs to run for a long time under ultra-low temperature, heavy load and ultra-high speed conditions, which puts forward unprecedented harsh conditions for the temperature resistance, load bearing and speed performance indicators of the bearing. In addition, because there is no data and experience for reference, the development of the turbopump bearing is also listed as one of the key tasks in the development of heavy carrier rocket engine.
After receiving the task of bearing development, ZYS immediately organized a team to tackle key technologies of low-temperature bearings, which was rigorous and realistic, and overcame difficulties. Over the years, through dozens of repeated program improvements and tests, ZYS mastered a number of key technologies such as special low-temperature lubrication, cage strength, dynamic simulation, thermal analysis of medium flow field, steel ball dragging theory, and solved the problems of burns, wear, and surface discoloration after bearing test run, Finally, a large-sized cryogenic bearing with ultra-high speed and high reliability that meets the high performance requirements of the turbine pump was developed, providing a strong guarantee for the success of the whole test run of the heavy liquid launch vehicle engine.
