Body Found Hanging In Stairwell Of CSULB Building: Coroner

LONG BEACH, CA — The body of a 23-year-old man was found hanging in the stairwell of a California State University, Long Beach building on Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

University police received a report about a “suspicious circumstance” in the McIntosh Humanities Building at about 10:20 p.m., according to Chief of Police John Brockie. CSULB officers found the man unresponsive in the eighth-floor stairwell.

The Long Beach Fire Department responded and determined that the man was deceased. The man’s manner of death was classified as a suicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

“Out of respect for the family, CSULB will not release the name of the deceased,” Brockie said in a statement.

It is unknown if the man was a student or a member of staff at the university. No additional information was immediately available.
