"Unwanted" Man In Stafford Turns Into $500,000 Fugitive Arrest

STAFFORD, CT — A man who showed up “unwanted” at a property in Stafford is now in custody on a half-million-dollar bond as a fugitive from justice.

The arrest of 30-year-old Marcis Lopez materialized just before 8 a.m. Friday, when state police received a call about an “unwanted male party” at a school street property, according an incident report.

While at the scene, state police learned that Lopez was the subject of a felony arrest warrant in connection with a domestic violence assault and “strangulation” incident, held by the Southbridge Police Department in Massachusetts, according to an incident report.

The extradition of Lopez had been authorized for all states located within the continental U.S., state police said. After consulting with the corresponding District Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts, troopers in Connecticut took Lopez into custody as a fugitive.

Lopez has a Stafford address listed in an arrest report.

Lopez was subsequently transported to Troop C in Tolland, where he was processed without incident. Lopez was held on a $500,000 bond and transported to Rockville Superior Court for same-day arraignment. Lopez is being held in Connecticut pending his extradition to Massachusetts, state police said.
