La Grange Building's 'Pervasive' Code Violations: Village

LA GRANGE, IL – La Grange wants to levy fines against the owner of a downtown building for what it calls “continuous, ongoing and pervasive violations.”

The building previously housed Nicksons Eatery, which no longer owns the building.

In January, the village sued the owner of 30 S. La Grange Road in Cook County Court, seeking fines of up to $500 a day. It asked the judge to order the owner to eliminate the nuisances.

In a March email to the village, Andrew Nast, a representative of the owner, said many of the maintenance issues were corrected.

In December, Nast, managing partner of Deerfield-based Brick & Mortar, told the village that the owner would like to have a restaurant use 2,200 square feet on the ground floor.

Then the remaining space on the first and second floors would be occupied for co-working, he said. Such space is used by people who are self-employed or working for different employers.

Patch left phone and email messages for Nast on Monday.

In October 2021, Nicksons conveyed the property to Park Ridge-based 30 La Grange LLC.

During a Village Board meeting last month, Trustee Beth Augustine brought up the building and called it “blight.”

Village President Mark Kuchler agreed, saying it was “a problem and a thorn in everyone’s side.”

The building is between Marco’s Kitchen and Casa Margarita restaurant.
