Secaucus Police Blotter, March 11 – March 17

SECAUCUS, NJ — Released by Secaucus Police, all of last week’s arrests:

On March 11 at 6:09 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to Walmart for a report of a shoplifting. The individual involved fled the area in a motor vehicle. The car was subsequently located in the parking deck of 485 Harmon Meadow Boulevard. Police took into custody a 36-year-old female, Melissa Reith of North Bergen, NJ for Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)] and Eluding [2C:29-2B]. Ms. Reith was issued her complaint summons along with 7 motor vehicle summonses and she was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On March 12 at 4:15 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to 2nd Avenue due to information received that an individual was staying at a residence there who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. During the investigation, the man ran from the home in an attempt to elude police. He was subsequently taken into custody on the Audi property located on Rt. 3 East. Police arrested a 19-year-old male, Joseph Tormey of Union City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Hamburg, NJ in the amount of $1,250.00 with a 10% option. Mr. Tormey was also charged with Resisting Arrest [2C:29-2A(2)] and Obstructing the Administration of Law [2C:29-1A]. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Tormey also reportedly mobile deposited a check unlawfully into his own bank account. Mr. Tormey was additionally charged with Theft [2C:20-3A] regarding this incident. Mr. Tormey was issued his complaint warrants and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On March 13 at 7:07 p.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 23-year-old male, Alexander Santos of Union City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of North Bergen, NJ in the amount of $1,500. North Bergen did release Mr. Santos on his own recognizance pending a future court date and he was released from police custody.

On March 14 at 6:48 p.m., in furtherance of an investigation conducted by the Secaucus Police Department Anti-Crime Unit in relation to multiple burglaries into parked cars at the Extended Stay America (1 Meadowlands Parkway) on 11/28/2023, Secaucus Police responded to Newark, NJ and arrested an 18 year old male, Malahki Isaac of Newark, NJ for six counts of Burglary [2C:18-2A(1)], four counts of Theft [2C:20-3A] and six counts of Conspiracy to commit Burglary [2C:5-2A(1)]. Mr. Isaac was issued his complaint warrant and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On March 14 at 6:48 p.m., in furtherance of an investigation conducted by the Secaucus Police Department Division in relation to a theft incident that occurred at Marshall’s on 02/02/2024, the police arrested a 44-year-old female, Janett Verastegui of Brentwood, NY for Theft [2C:20-3A], Credit Card Theft [2C:21-6c(1)] and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card [2C:21-6H]. Ms. Verastegui was taken into custody at Secaucus Police Headquarters located at 1203 Paterson Plank Road. She was issued her complaint summons and was released from police custody.

On March 17 at 4:12 a.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 33-year-old male, Segundo Calderon of Wood Ridge, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Calderon was issued his motor vehicle summons for DWI along with an additional two motor vehicle summonses and he was released into the custody of a responsible adult.

On March 17 at 12:31 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the North Arlington Police Department to take into custody a 28-year-old male, Alex Cedeno-Heras of Kearny, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Secaucus in the amount of $600.00. Mr. Cedeno-Heras was able to post bail for the involved warrant and was subsequently released from police custody.
