CARLE PLACE, NY — The death of a Long Island woman after eating at a restaurant in Walt Disney World was “totally preventable,” attorney Brian Denney, who is representing her husband told Patch.
Kanokporn Tangsuan (who went by the name Amy), a doctor in Carle Place died in October at the Raglan Road Irish Pub at Disney Springs in October, court documents say.
Tangsuan was 42.

A suit was filed on Feb. 22 by Tangsuan’s husband Jeffrey Piccolo in Circuit Court of the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orange County, Florida. The suit alleges she died due to an allergic reaction to food at the Disney eatery.
Denney, with the law firm Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley, P.A., based in West Palm Beach, told Patch, said her death could have been avoided if “Disney’s Raglan Road followed proper protocols and made good on their promise to serve food that was safe.”

According to the lawsuit, the couple alerted the server about her severe allergy to nuts and dairy. They “questioned the waiter about various items on the menu to confirm whether they had allergens in them or not,” the suit contends.
Additionally, the server confirmed that “he could” bring menu items “allergen-free” for Tangsuan, who was a family practice physician for 16 years.
“Hopefully, this case will encourage Disney and other establishments to take guest allergies seriously,” Denney said.
Despite guarantees from the waiter, within an hour after eating, Tangsuan began to have severe difficulty breathing. Seeking aide, she collapsed at a nearby restaurant from a “severe acute allergic reaction to the food served at Raglan,” the complaint says.
“Jeff’s hope is that this case can prevent a similar tragedy from befalling another family,” Denney said.
