Bruner Begins Role As Moraga Administrative Services Director

MORAGA, CA — The Town of Moraga welcomed Katie Bruner as its new administrative services director this week.

Bruner started her new role at Moraga Town Hall on Tuesday, bringing with her 17 years of public service experience. Most recently, she was the budget and procurement manager for the city of Walnut Creek, where she worked for six years. Before that, Bruner gained 11 years of experience working for two counties: six years with Alameda County as a management analyst and five years with Napa County as an analyst.

As administrative services director, Bruner is the town’s chief financial officer — CFO — and provides oversight of the organization’s human resources, risk management and information technology operations. This position also functions as a key member of the town’s executive team.

“Katie’s exposure to working for three well-run California local governments in general, combined with her specific experience in the key components necessary to succeed as an Administrative Services Director, make her an ideal candidate to take on this role,” Town Manager Scott Mitnick said. “In addition to her technical skills (including budget preparation, long-term financial forecasting, preparing financial reports, investment portfolio management, purchasing, improving technology, etc.), Katie has the necessary people skills to work effectively with Town Council, Department Directors, Town employees, and members of the community.”

Bruner takes over for Lisa Malek-Zadeh who served as interim administrative services director after the resignation of former director Annie To on Oct. 20, 2023.

Katie is a Bay Area native and resides with her family in Walnut Creek. She attended Sonoma State University where she earned a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in economics.

The salary range for the administrative services director role at the Town of Moraga is $171,792-$208,812.

Moraga has a population of 17,000 and is situated in the East Bay Hills’ Lamorinda area along with the cities of Lafayette and Orinda.
