Beloved, Award-Winning Eagleville Bakery To Close Its Doors

EAGLEVILLE, PA — A beloved Montgomery County bakery will shut its doors after years of serving the community, as its award winning chef moves on to a prestigious teaching role.

Kriebel’s Custom Bakery, the Ridge Pike speciality shop in Eagleville that was featured on the Food Network, officially closed down its shop on Thursday, Feb. 1. The bakery has been operational in some form since 2011.

Owner Colleen Kriebel, a native of Plymouth Meeting, said she was “turning the page” to the next chapter of her life: working as a baking and pastry arts instructor at her alma mater, the Culinary Institute of America.

“This amazing journey could not have been possible without all of you,” she said. “I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach young, aspiring Pastry Chefs how to become successful in this industry. My love and passion for this craft will be shared with so many students for years to come, my heart is so full. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause in your event plans for the future. I have loved every moment of being your cake maker for all these years. The memories we have created will forever be cherished Thank you all, from the bottom my heart, thank you!”

Kriebel’s had its early days in Wayne, and then sold cakes from Via Venetos before opening a Ridge Pike storefront.

“Colleen was always our go-to recommendation to customers when they requested cakes we didn’t offer,” the Collegeville Italian Bakery shared in a note praising Kriebel’s. “Her work was top notch in every way.”

There are no certain plans for the future of the now empty space on Ridge Pike.

Winner of numerous local and regional awards, a highlight of Kriebel’s tenure was an appearance on the Food Network’s “Cake Wars” in Oct. 2016.
