Draper's Steak & Seafood Marks First Anniversary With Ribbon Cutting

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Draper’s Steak & Seafood opened in Old Town Fairfax on May 11, 2022. To celebrate its first anniversary, the restaurant hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday evening.

Members of the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, the Old Town Fairfax Business Association, and the Fairfax City Economic Development Authority, joined city officials and restaurant employees for the ribbon-cutting.

During the ceremony, EDA Commissioner Dawn McGruder said Draper’s was just he type of business her organization sought to attract to the city.

“Draper’s, with its name rich in city history, occupies a prime location next to Old Town Square, making a wonderful first impression for visitors and residents,” she said. “I am sure that Draper’s will be the backdrop for many wonderful memories for everyone in the future history of our city.”

Aaron McDade, a managing partner Draper’s, told Patch that although business has been good over the first year, he and his partners would like to see it continue to grow.

“Weekends have been great. It’s definitely a destination weekend restaurant,” he said. “We’re working on building business during the week, and we just opened for lunch starting in April.”

A Fairfax City resident for 15 years, McDade described Draper’s as a friendly neighborhood restaurant, with a great happy hour and brunch on the weekends.

“I basically want people to stay in the City of Fairfax as opposed to going elsewhere,” he said. “Whether whether it’s 15 minutes away or 30 minutes away, we’re trying to build something right here that people can enjoy.”
