‘Our season rode on this’: 18-point Madigan believes in Leinster pedigree

LEINSTER UTILITY BACK Ian Madigan cut a relieved figure after Leinster sealed their progress to the Champions Cup quarter final with a narrow 18 – 15 win over Bath.

The victory sends Matt O’Connor’s side on the road in the semi-final to either Brighton or Marseille – depending on whether Wasps or Toulon come out of tomorrow’s quarter-final at Stade Mayol.

Asked what being in the final four meant to him, the man who kicked all 18 of Leinster’s points told BT Sport:

He added: “Our season rode on this game. We’ve had mixed form in the league. Our preparation leading in to this game was exceptional. It mightn’t have been the prettiest at times, but we got the win.”
